2009 Challenge 109/365 – Clock

As I was walking down the street one day
A man came up to me and asked me
what the time was that was on my watch, yeah

And I said

Does anybody really know what time it is
Does anybody really care
If so I cant imagine why
We’ve all got time enough to cry

– Chicago “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?”
……………………………………………………………….

Here is the basic concept of this shoot – photograph a clock taking one exposure every 60 seconds. Compile everything in photoshop to make on image showing multiple hand locations. The pain is this: the photos must be taken EXACTLY 60 seconds apart to get an even spacing. So, for an hour, I would watch a digital timer and hit the shutter release every minute.

The first time I did this, there was a nasty shadow around the inside rim of the clock, so when I compiled everything, the image was way too dark.

The second time, the lighting was at too sharp of an angle to the hands and all the movement was obscured by the shadows cast.

The third time, the lighting was great, I compiled all of the images and decided the angle I had shot everything at was too straight, too boring.

The fourth time, the lighting from the windows had completely changed since I first started shooting resulting in a whole new set of shadow issues.

The fifth time… well, this was the result of the fifth time. Still would have made some changes, but five hours of this insanity was enough.
