A hydroelectric plant on the Rock River in Beloit, Wisconsin.
Just a block off the Beloit College campus, this part of Beloit presents a great example of gentrification (for all of those students of New Urbanism). The old iron foundry on the opposite side of the river is being re-opened as a museum and a lot of work has gone into the exterior of the complex of buildings that line a large portion of this part of the river. Banners, murals, landscaping… all good stuff. New condos, shops and a river walkway complete the renewal.

High Voltage

What caught my attention upon stepping under this tower is the double spiral pattern created by the steel structure. You can see this if you block out the four main support legs and focus on the cross support structure.
