Why do CDs reflect rainbow colors?
"Yesterday I got lost in the circus
Felling like such a mess
Now I’m down I’m just hanging on the corner
I can’t help but reminisce
When you’re gone all the colors fade
When you’re gone no New Year’s Day parade
You’re gone
Colors seem to fade
Your mama called she said that you’re down stairs crying
Feeling like such a mess
Yeah I hear you you’re in the background bawling
What happened to your sweet summertime dress
I know we all, we all got our faults
We get locked in our vaults and we stay
But when you’re gone all the colors fade
When you’re gone no New Year’s Day parade
You’re gone
Colors seem to fade
Colors seem to fade"
– Amos Lee, "Colors"
Day 16 – “Reflection”
349 days to go…
This is a macro shot of a burnable DVD-R. I used a goose neck lamp for overhead light, which also created the red-orange-yellow stream center left, a rechargeable 18 volt Craftsman flashlight, which created the blue-green streams clockwise from the orange and two led flashlights, which created the thin yellow and blue-green streams counter-clockwise from the orange.

Day 15 – “Zipper”
35o days to go… that’s 50 weeks
I looked around the house a while for an interesting zipper… coats, backpacks, sweatshirts, jeans but nothing really stood out to me as really “interesting”. I knew I could take an interesting macro with some interesting lighting, but ugh.
I thought about making the zipper’s interlocking teeth out of different objects… comb teeth, fingers, golf tees, fork tines… crayons. Perfect. They fit together well, they’re colorful, they’re iconic.
I again used my computer monitor for the base, hoping the light from the monitor would erase some of the shadows. The crayons were lit from the top with a gooseneck lamp.
